Auckland Jazz & Blues Club - AUCKLAND JAZZ ORCHESTRAÂ
The Auckland Jazz Orchestra’s mission is to perform new and original contemporary big band jazz, written or arranged by musicians from Aotearoa New Zealand. Since its inception in 2009, the band has drawn on a rich vein of talented musicians, young and old, led by trumpeter & arranger Mike Booth.
They have released 5 albums of new music, and presented concerts at Auckland Arts Festival, Wellington Jazz Festival, Tauranga Jazz Festival and venues around the North Island. They always look forward to the warm reception they receive at Auckland Jazz & Blues Club.
For this special programme, they will preview some brand new arrangements from their next project, currently recording new arrangements of tunes by “local hero” musicians from Tamaki Makaurau, alongside some band favourites from their large and ever-growing catalogue.
