Obverse: An oak wreath in silver tied with gold, having in the centre the Royal Cypher and Crown in gold.

Reverse: Plain.

Size: 37mm wide, 55mm to the top of the crown.

Ribbon: 38mm wide, the ribbon is green with a 7mm yellow central stripe. A brooch at the top of the ribbon is inscribed “NEW ZEALAND”.

Suspension: The ribbon is threaded through a 15mm diameter ring, which passes through a loop fixed to the top back of the crown. The ring will move forwards and backwards.

This award was instituted following standardisation of long service awards in 1931. It is awarded to officers of the New Zealand Army Territorial Force upon completion of twelve years’ continuous service. Bars are awarded for each additional six years’ service.
